Castle Rock is home to 5 microbreweries each with their own unique take on beer and atmosphere. Our first obsession was
105 West Brewing Company
Tucked away in a strip mall without any signage to show you the way you’ll find this jewel of a microbrewery packed with loyal regulars every night of the week. There’s an outdoor patio that is dog (and cat) friendly and there’s always a food truck to help soak up those suds. The tasting room holds 50 suds lovers with unpretentious tables made from Colorado beetle kill pine.
In 2018, 105 West started putting their delicious brews in cans and in 2019 they started distributing a few varieties in locally owned liquor stores
You will find 16 rotating beers on tap and be served by people who are all involved in the brewing process in some way so they are experts at helping you find just the right variety for you. Food Trucks Nightly from 6ish on weekdays & noon Saturday and Sunday. You can also enjoy live music on Saturday nights. Visit their food truck & event schedule here.

What about
They also do NOT accept tips, all cash is given to their charity of the month.

The only downfall of this place is that your Uber or Lyft driver will probably drive around for awhile looking for you if you call for a pickup so be prepared to give them directions!
Burly Brewing Company

Just down the street from 105 is Burly Brewing. What’s so cool about all the breweries in Castle Rock is that they are all so different. Burly has a huge bar which is our favorite place to sit on our first visit so the pourers can educate us on what they have to offer. My new passion is Sour Beer & Spicy Beer! No DAD beer for us! Pictured are my two favorite beers at Burly, a Cherry Pomegranate Sour Red & Aztec Hot Chocolate Stout.
I also loved that Gurls are not excluded from their large line of Burly gear you can buy to show your love of their brews. In case the ladies don’t necessarily want a picture of a big bearded guy on their chest, these clever owners flipped the logo for my favorite sticker yet. They have t-shirts, hoodies, mugs, hats and of course lots of fun stickers.

There is lots of comfy seating here and a stage for musicians on the weekends.
Castle Rock’s brew scene is very friendly with lively competition between the pubs, Jim Stinson was previously the Brew Master at Rockyard (Castle Rock’s first brewery) where he worked with Kjell Wygant (Head Brewer at 105 West). You can read more about the background here on Bottle Makes 3

Wild Blue Yonder Brewing Company
Learn about the owners of Wild Blue Yonder and their vision for their pub and eatery in the heart of Castle Rock Colorado.

Wild Blue Yonder Brewing Co. presented by MidWestOne Bank from Andrew Wasson on Vimeo.
The owners of Wild Blue Yonder had been looking for the perfect spot for their dream venture and when the owners of Augustine Grill announced they were moving on to other pursuits, this property was exactly what they had been waiting for. A prime 1/3 acre downtown Castle Rock featured a 1902 Victorian house converted to a restaurant, an 1875 Carriage House, as well as a large outdoor garden. Some townspeople gave some pushback to the idea of a new building going in but once they knew that the Carriage house and the gardens would remain the plan passed. This imposing new building in the heart of historic downtown Castle Rock definitely stands out from the crowd but has managed to maintain the small town feel even though it’s more of an urban vibe than you’ll find in the other pubs.
We can’t wait to hang out in the huge garden in the back of the pub this summer. You can read more about their history here.
There is a full menu of not only food but also other local drink options including 4 Colorado Wines from Infinite Monkey Theorem, and 2 Ciders from Stem Cider, and local spirits from Bear Creek Distillery.
