Who will be “King of the Hill” in 2011?
The Pikes Peak International Hill Climb is the most famous hill climb race in the word and the second oldest motorsport race behind the Indy 500. To open the race Walker will be driving a new Porsche courtesy of Porsche of Colorado Springs with the brand new mayor of the Springs Mayor Steve Bach sitting in the passenger seat.
Paul Walker gained stardom when he starred in “Fast And Furious” film franchise in starting in 2001. Life follows fiction with Walker driving the official pace car for the 89th annual Pikes Peak International Hill Climb in Colorado Springs Colorado.
On June 26 fast car enthusiasts should head South of Denver to witness the spectacle of fast cars, dirt roads and excited fans joining to watch 190 drivers competing for prizes in an historic race that began in 1916. With 156 turns this 12.42 mile race is actually more famous outside of the US than it is inside our mile high state.
The race track consists of a mixture of paved and dirt roads starting at 9,390 feet and ending at the famous mountain’s 14,110 foot summit above Colorado Springs with 11 classes and a variety of transportation modes including:
- Semi Truck
- Open Wheel
- Super Stock Car
- Pro Truck

Actor Paul Walker is known for his roles in “The Fast and The Furious”, “2 Fast 2 Furious”, Disney’s “Eight Below”, “Flags of Our Fathers,” “She’s All That,” “Fast and Furious,” and the latest franchise installment “Fast Five” with The Rock Dwayne Johnson, Vin Diesel and Tyrese Gibson.
Last summer Walker was seen in the Screen Gems crime action film “Takers” as a bank robber alongside Matt Dillon and Hayden Christenson. The film also grossed # 1 at the box office and maintained high numbers after opening weekend.
Fan Fest at the Pikes Peak International Hill Climb
Fan Fest is the annual pre-race celebration held in downtown Colorado Springs (Tejon St. between Colorado Ave. & Bijou St.) promoting the Pikes Peak International Hill Climb. This event is FREE and typically features a large Budweiser beer garden, live bands, chili cook-off, motorcycle jumpers and Denver Bronco cheerleaders as well as other live entertainment. Top race qualifiers will display their vehicles give driver demos and be present for autograph sessions.
Advance ticket sales are on sale now and fans are urged to act quickly to avoid a long line on race day.
