With the popularity of buying organic produce on the rise, more and more stores and markets are making a point of carrying these sought after products. Boulder is known for having a wide variety of organic foods and we are spoiled with many different options of places to shop. Here are a few of our suggestions of where you can find locally grown produce:
Whole Foods and Ideal Market: Whole Foods (2905 Pearl St) is probably the most well-known natural grocer and is consistent with providing great products. They recently bought Ideal Market which has been around for over 70 years. It carries many of the same products but adds a certain funky flair to the shopping experience. Go check it out at 1275 Alpine Avenue.
Sprouts: Always affordable, this store is a great go-to place if you happen to have a tighter budget. They regularly offer great deals and discounts and always have healthy whole grain baked goods, organic and non-organic fruits and veggies, dairy, meat, vitamins and supplements. Sprouts is located at 2950 Baseline.
Sunflower Farmers’ Market: This market works directly with local growers and farmers and might just have the lowest prices of all the natural grocers. The selection is huge and offers a little bit of everything! It’s open every day from 7:00am to 11:00pm. Stop in at 2525 Arapahoe Avenue.
Boulder Farmers’ Market: You still have time to visit the most popular farmer’s market in the area! The locals love it and you can always find a wide variety of the freshest produce. The market is at 13th and Arapahoe on Saturdays (until November 16th) from 8:00am – 2:00pm and on Wednesdays (until October 2nd) from 4:00pm – 8:00pm. You also have three more opportunities to catch it on a weekend with the Fine Art & Fine Craft Fair.
Visit any or all of these stores and markets and support Boulder’s local growers by purchasing their produce.
